Shaping Paper Flowers – Smooth Round Curl

In the following video I’m sharing a closer look at my favorite petal shaping technique that yields smooth shape without any creases.

Tools needed – Bone folder aka paper creaser. There are few different bone folders that you might want to try out – and the main difference would be the length and weight. I absolutely love my 8″ long and heavy bone folder, it works the best for the petal shaping technique in the video below.

8″ long heavy bone folder

6″ standard bone folder

On a flat surface, position the petal with it’s back side facing up. Place the bond folder closer to the petals base and with light pressure applied slide the petal with other hand.

Don’t push the bone folder too hard or you will leave a visible mark – this might take some practice but the result is worth it!

    1. Hello! The main rule of thumb is to use paper that’s about 65lb thick, I would say up to 100lb – if going for cardstock paper too heavy, it will crease instead giving you smooth curves. Cardstock paper by Recollections is a good start, they have nice sets!
